- eBay Millionaire's Secret? -

I came across this interesting piece of news today: (http://www.ketv.com/newsarchive/7968098/detail.html)

A Lincoln man who wrote a book claiming he made
more than $8 million
a year is filing for bankruptcy for his company.
Brandon Dupsky is founder and CEO of Sell2All, which sold consigned
items on the Internet. He co-wrote "Insider Secrets of an e-Bay Millionaire."

I do not know the details of this case, but I have come across such books several times in bookstores and libraries. They were invariably a mixture of hype ("guaranteed to start a bidding frenzy!"), obvious generalities ("write clear descriptions") and vagueness ("I made thousands this way"). It was never clear, for instance, whether these "millionaires" talked about sales or after-tax (and after eBay fee) profits.

If you want to buy a book to teach you selling on eBay, I would recommend Marsha Collier's
Starting an eBay Business for Dummies or Greg Holden's How to Do Everything with Your eBay Business, which I have reviewed here.

So much for today
